ha yeah exactly IMO. like, i love a ton of the electronic music that’s being made right now, but a ton of it is really derivative of the same few pioneers, or derivative of things that are themselves derivative of those pioneers.

daft punk were some of those pioneers, and there’s no way they’re going to put out an album that the current dance music crowd is going to like, or if they did they would be ashamed of it, so fuck it. have a really good disco-funk-pop album.

there’s gonna be hella sweet edm remixes of these songs though.

So far, the two people I know that are really into EDM hate RAM, and I was trying to understand that. I figure they were expecting Discovery 2, and that’s not what they got. I almost wouldn’t call it an electronic album, so much as a really well made pop album with some hints of electronic music in it. I kind of figured as much when they released Get Lucky, and then they made that statement about how all dance music is the same these days.

Basically, Daft Punk was like “Yo, fuck the bullshit my dudes. We’re releasing a disco album in 2013, and if you don’t like it, then you can eat a dick.”

And it is amazing.
